process & production
HOW IS THE ICE CLEAR?
The Clinebell ice machines were designed for ice sculptors. Because of constant agitation from the pump the water constantly circulates so impurities do not have a chance to settle.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO FREEZE?
The machines need anywhere from 3-5 days to freeze an entire block. Each block is approximately 300 pounds.
CAN THINGS BE FROZEN INSIDE THE ICE?
Yes, though with some difficulty. Certain materials like plastic or food work better than metals. Read more about them here or Contact us if you’d like to inquire about frozen items inside ice.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO FREEZE ITEMS INSIDE ICE?
Generally, $2 per unit but that can vary on product inside and style of ice.
USING our ICE
HOW LONG WILL THE ICE LAST?
So long as it is kept frozen, the ice will last for months, if not years (though you should probably use it before then). Some freezer burn may appear on the outside but that DOES NOT affect the intergrity of the cube. Simply let the ice come to temperature (called temping in the biz) and you’ll be good to go.
HOW LONG WILL MY ICE STAY CLEAR?
In theory, forever, but you should enjoy your ice before then.
HOW CAN I SEPARATE ICE THAT IS STUCK?
Place a knife between the stuck ice. DO NOT HIT. Simply hold the knife between the two - the contact with the metal will cause the ice to split naturally.
WHAT IF MY ICE IS FROSTY?
Freezer burn can occur. Place the ice in the glass you intend to use for your drink and let it warm up a bit. Rub it with your hands if you like but DO NOT run it under water.
WHY DOES MY ICE CRACK WHEN I ADD LIQUID?
Even if the liquid you pour over the ice is cold, the change in temperature can cause it to crack. The best way to avoid this is to let your ice temp (come to temperature) by letting it sit out at room temperature for a minute or two before adding liquid. Set the cube in the serving glass before you start assembling your drink.
